Talent is universal, but opportunity is not. The mission of Western Governors University is to change lives for the better by creating pathways to opportunity for all learners. We are the nation's largest nonprofit university, offering rigorous, online, competency-based bachelor's and master's degree programs. But beyond its degree programs, WGU is working to support learners in a variety of ways: college readiness programs and a path to college admission through WGU Academy; a revolutionary tuition model and access to scholarships and funding support; mentors and faculty members who care for students and assist them one by one; and post-graduation training and support through alumni programs.
Our efforts are not only aimed at improving the outlook for our own students. We want to change the landscape of higher education and make it a more accessible, equitable, and outcome-based option for every learner, no matter where or how they choose to learn.

We seek to understand these challenges and then partner with academic institutions, community organizations, industry leaders, and policymakers to overcome the barriers that keep people from continuing their studies, advancing their careers, and improving their lives.
