Frequently Asked Questions
When will I hear from WGU about my referral?
A referral is considered “qualified” once your friend or family member indicates they would like to learn more about WGU by filling out our inquiry form. However, it may take a few days for a gift code to be sent to you as some referrals may require further review by a member of the referral team. If you know a friend has contacted WGU then reach out to referafriend@wgu.edu and provide their name, email, and city and state of residence so that we can verify their contact and process your referral.
Where are my previous referrals?
Referrals submitted prior to August 17, 2020, could not be transferred over to our new platform and will not appear in your referral history. WGU will still maintain a history of previously submitted referrals, but for your referral to be logged to your new account, you will need to use your unique share link when making a referral.
How do I reset my Refer-a-Friend password?
Log into your Refer-a-Friend account with your email and temporary password provided in your welcome email. Once logged in, click on the “My Account” drop in the top-right of the screen and select “My Profile.” Here you will find a blue “Change Password” button. Enter in your new password as well as your old password for verification to complete the change.
Does the person I refer need to enroll at WGU for my referral to qualify?
No, in order for us to approve a “thank you” gift for you, your friend only needs to fill out the Inquiry Form to learn more about WGU’s programs.
How many referrals can I submit?
You may refer any number of friends. If you are eligible to receive rewards however, rewards may only be provided for the first ten (10) friends who accept your referral in a twelve (12) month period and have not been previously referred by someone else.
