International transfer credit evaluation.

Prospective students who wish to submit for consideration college-level academic coursework completed outside of the U.S. must have their transcripts evaluated by an Educational Credential Evaluation Service that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES®) or the Association of International Credentials Evaluators (AICES®). Students can also have their evaluation performed by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers’ (AACRAO), International Education Services or the Credentials Evaluation Service of the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS).

Within the United States, no government agency monitors the establishment of foreign credential evaluation services.

NACES® is an association of private educational credential evaluation services committed to formulating and maintaining ethical standards in the field of foreign educational evaluation. NACES® was founded in 1987 by credential evaluation services dedicated to promoting excellence and committed to setting the standards for the profession. Evaluation reports prepared by NACES® members are judgments based on appropriate reference material, including current research. NACES® member organizations examine documents for accuracy and authenticity. Reports include information about the credential awarded and the U.S. equivalency. A current list of NACES® members may be obtained online at http://www.naces.org/members.

AICE® was created by international educational credential evaluation services as a non-profit institution. The focus of AICE® is to translate foreign transcripts in regard to U.S. equivalents. All members of AICE®uphold the same standards and ethics to help provide quality evaluations pertaining to U.S. requirements. For more information about AICE® click here.

AACRAO's International Education Services is a non-profit organization that offers professional evaluations of foreign transcripts in relation to U.S. equivalences. For more information about AACRAO click here. WGU requires that the evaluation be performed by AACRAO and not by an AACRAO member.

The Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS International) is an immigration-neutral, non-profit organization, internationally recognized as an authority on credentials evaluation pertaining to the education, registration, and licensure of nurses and other healthcare professionals worldwide. The CGFNS International Credential Evaluation Services (CES) Report analyzes the education and licensure earned outside of the United States by healthcare professionals (except physicians) and compares it to U.S. equivalencies. For more information about CGFNS visit CGFNS.

Students may only use one evaluation service and may not send in multiple evaluations for transfer credit. Students must have official copies of evaluations sent directly to WGU from the credential evaluation service.
