Earning a degree is a big deal. Take time to evaluate if you’re prepared to restart with WGU and complete what you started. A few questions to work through:
Why did you originally withdraw? Have you found resolutions to the barriers? Are you confident that school can be a priority?
Have you assessed obstacles? Understanding what hindered your progress before is an important step in removing those obstacles.
Can you commit enough time? Successful students spend at least 15–20 hours each week on their studies. Having a game plan is important.

Getting started is easy—just contact a Readmission Specialist on the Admissions team. Email admissions@wgu.edu or call 877-435-7948, extension 3147.
Your Readmission Specialist will provide you with a form to fill out, which you must complete 60 days prior to your desired start date. Information you will need to provide on this form will include:
- The name of the program you wish to reenter.
- Your target reentry date.
- A list of all higher education institutions you attended before and after attending WGU.
- The circumstances that led to your withdrawal.
- Why you believe the WGU model is appropriate in reaching your academic goals.
- How you have prepared for return, both academically and otherwise.
- Why you believe you will be able to meet academic progress requirements in your if readmitted.
Readmission policies and other information.
- You can reenter only when your withdrawal term has ended.
- If you were academically suspended, you must wait a minimum of 6 months from the suspension date before appealing for reentry.
- The process of readmission must be completed by the 10th day of the month prior to your expected start date.
- Once approved, you will start a new term on the first of the month after your withdrawal term has ended and when you have completed the required conditions for the restart.
- Your financial account must be paid up from prior terms and tuition must be guaranteed by payment or financial aid approval/confirmation.
- If you are eligible for financial aid, your financial aid paperwork must be current and completed.
If you completed any college-level work elsewhere during your absence from WGU, the work will only be considered for transfer credit if you left WGU for two or more years—or, if you are changing programs of study, for at least one year. In such cases, you should have an official transcript of that work sent to the Admissions Department for evaluation prior to readmission. Upon review of your readmission letter, as well as prior academic and administrative records, Admissions will make a determination and inform you of the decision and conditions of reentry, if applicable. Readmitting students are not entitled to grandfathering. Students appealing to be readmitted must conform and comply with new admission policies unless granted an exemption through an escalated appeal. If the readmission request is denied, the student may appeal the decision to the Registrar whose decision is final.
Only students who appear to have potential for success in the WGU model and within their selected program of study will be readmitted. Readmission is not automatic and could be denied for any of the following reasons:
- Failure to comply with the WGU code of student conduct.
- Failure to meet academic progress requirements.
- Administratively withdrawn for non-payment, non-response or inactivity.
- Multiple withdrawals, either administratively or by request.
Readmitted students must be eligible for their desired program of study and will be subject to the admission and graduation requirements of their degree program at the time of reentry. Additionally, the student will be placed into the most current catalog version of the program. Students readmitted to the university must complete term enrollment within 10 days of the start of the term with their assigned mentor. Students must also agree to abide by the university's academic progress policy.

What will happen once I have actually been readmitted?
When you have met the conditions to be readmitted your record will be re-activated in the system and you will be assigned to a Program Mentor at the start of your term. You and your Mentor will receive a "welcome back" e-mail confirming your actual restart after your withdrawal. Within the first 10 days of your reentry term, you will contact the mentor to discuss your Degree Plan and establish term enrollment.
