Evolution of higher education infographic.

Higher education has come a long way. From 3500 B.C., when wealthy families provided education for boys only, to the late 1980s when the first online university was launched. Consider the developments of culture and society during the Middle Ages or the basic computer systems that allowed for the first remote student-teacher interactions.

In 2009, 96% of post-secondary students were taking some or all of their courses online. Today there are hundreds of online degree programs, with millions of students being engaged all over the world. There is no doubt that history has paved the way for the growth, accessibility, and variety of online programs and higher education options that exist today.

We created an infographic to display some interesting facts and numbers about the history of education and the future of online learning. Are you one of the millions of students engaged in online learning?
