Student Success

WGU North Carolina student snapshot.

Although North Carolinians have been enrolled in Western Governors University for many years, the WGU North Carolina affiliate officially launched in October 2017. In our first year, we’ve seen tremendous growth in enrollment as well as positive contributions to the state.

WGU North Carolina truly is making a difference by providing affordable access to online education leading to job opportunities in the high-demand fields of IT, health care, business and K-12 education. Not only that, we remain committed to providing scholarships across our four colleges to help deserving students earn degrees with no or minimal debt.

We currently have students enrolled from 96 of North Carolina’s 100 counties, ranging in age from 17 to 80. A significant percentage are first-generation students looking to provide a more stable and secure future for themselves and their families.

The infographic below presents a quick snapshot of WGU North Carolina students in our first year. We look forward to sustaining this momentum, and helping even more North Carolinians achieve their dreams in the years ahead.
