Transfer Pathways for Community College Graduates

Phi Theta Kappa has named WGU as one of 151 Colleges and Universities on its 2021 Transfer Honor Roll

WGU Indiana works hard to develop partnerships with community colleges to establish pathways to opportunity, offer tuition discounts and dedicate scholarship funding for community college graduates transferring into WGU Indiana. Because of these efforts, and the efforts of all WGU state affiliates, the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) has named WGU as one of 151 colleges and universities on its 2021 Transfer Honor Roll

The annual program recognizes four-year institutions that have developed transfer pathways that lead to excellence and success among community college transfer students. Colleges were chosen based on their Transfer Friendliness Rating, which is determined by the Transfer Profile created in PTK Connect, a free online tool that helps students find colleges, career pathways and more. As community college graduates in Indiana prepare to upskill for post-pandemic career opportunities, tools like the Transfer Friendliness Rating will help them find degree programs with colleges like WGU Indiana to meet their individual needs.

Across the U.S., WGU has established transfer pathways to help incoming students understand how prior coursework and experience may transfer into a degree program at WGU. Since nearly 25 years ago when WGU was founded, the university as a whole has formed partnerships with more than 500 community colleges across the country to establish these transfer pathways. In 2020, more than 18,000 students from community colleges transferred to WGU, which awarded more than $850,000 in scholarship funding to them.

WGU Indiana makes it easy for those who have taken courses or received a degree from a community college or another college or university. Students can almost always transfer credits when they send their bachelor’s or associate’s degree transcript to WGU Indiana for a college transfer evaluation.
