WGU Nevada & Fisher Phillips to Debut Seven Free ‘Little Libraries’ to City of Las Vegas Schools, Neighborhoods

Companies will hold Nevada Reading Week book drive to support effort.

WHAT: A lead-up celebration to Nevada Reading Week, online university WGU Nevada and labor and employment law firm Fisher Phillips will join Las Vegas City Council members to debut the first installment of free “Little Libraries” at the February 21 city council meeting. Principals from seven area elementary schools that will be receiving the first “Little Libraries” will be on hand, as well as WGU Nevada and Fisher Phillips executives, to celebrate the first “book drop” into a “Little Libraries” receptacle.

“Take a book, leave a book” is the general idea behind the “Little Libraries” free book exchange, which is to encourage reading for all ages, promote community involvement, improve literacy rates, and increase access to books in areas around the city.

In addition to the installation of the first “Little Libraries,” WGU Nevada and Fisher Phillips will hold a Nevada Reading Week community book drive February 26 through March 30. All books collected will be used to keep the “Little Libraries” stocked throughout the year. New and gently used books for all ages will be accepted. Drop off locations include:

Crazy Pita – all three locations, at Downtown Summerlin, The District at Green Valley, and Town Square Las Vegas

WHY: WGU Nevada and Fisher Phillips are supporters of Nevada Reading Week, an annual initiative for teachers and librarians to celebrate reading among students. This year, Nevada Reading Week is being held from February 26 to March 2, and as usual, coincides with the birthday of Dr. Seuss.
