ST. LOUIS — St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger issued a proclamation declaring Friday, March 2, 2018, as “WGU Missouri Day” in St. Louis County. Linda Henry, the Director of Executive Support & Administration with St. Louis County, presented the official framed proclamation to WGU Missouri Chancellor Dr. Angie Besendorfer at the Administration Building in Clayton in commemoration of the occasion.

The proclamation was issued in recognition of WGU Missouri’s accomplishments as it celebrates its 5th anniversary. WGU Missouri was created as Missouri’s only state-endorsed, nonprofit, fully online university by former Gov. Jay Nixon in February 2013 to expand affordable, high-quality education to residents across the state. Over the past five years, WGU Missouri has grown to include 2,714 currently enrolled students, 1,858 graduates and 159 staff members throughout Missouri, and has also awarded over $1 million in scholarships.

In honor of its 5th anniversary, WGU Missouri will be awarding $5,000 scholarships this year to as many as 100 new students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Applications for the WGU Missouri 5th Anniversary Celebration Scholarship are being accepted through June 29.
