CINCINNATI — WGU Ohio has awarded Abigail Weitzel, a first-grade teacher at Cincinnati’s Fairview-Clifton German Language School, a $2,500 WGU Ohio Scholarship toward her master’s degree in education at the university. With WGU’s already low tuition and fees, the scholarship represents about a 20 percent savings each term.
“This degree is something that seems to fit me,” Weitzel said. “As a young child I always idolized (my second-grade teacher). She had large hair, a warm smile, bubbling personality, and attended events outside of the school day to support us as learners. As I transitioned my role into a teacher with my own classroom, I try to hold onto these characteristics.”
