AUSTIN — Online, nonprofit university WGU Texas has hired Emma Bush as Community Relations Manager for its Fort Worth region.
“Emma’s extensive experience building public-private partnerships and cultivating high-level relationships will be extremely valuable in helping us continue to expand our network of academic and employer alliances in North Texas,” said Dr. Steven Johnson, chancellor of WGU Texas. “In addition, her impressive background in nonprofit management, strategic planning, and workforce development will be key in WGU Texas’ efforts to increase our market reach and educational impact across the state.”
As an important addition to the community relations team, Bush will develop, secure, and grow partnerships in Fort Worth and its surrounding areas, promoting the value of WGU Texas’ educational programs, and planning and executing strategies that effectively benefit both the university and its partners.
Prior to joining WGU Texas, Bush was a nonprofit consultant for mission-driven organizations and public entities, providing solutions to improve the performance of social service programs and secure funding for sustainability. She has held multiple leadership positions in the non-profit sector, including with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in Arlington, where she oversaw fundraising and public relations operations for the organization as the Vice President of Resource Development and Communications. She also served as Officer of Grants and Foundations for the American Red Cross in Dallas, National Director of the Prison Fellowship (PFM), and Executive Director of Consulting & Planning Associates.
Bush is an Ed.D. candidate in education at Capella University. She earned a Master of Public Administration degree at National University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Grambling State University.
