Daniel Mehan Appointed to WGU Missouri Advisory Board

JEFFERSON CITY – WGU Missouri is pleased to announce that Daniel Mehan, of Jefferson City, has been appointed to the WGU Missouri Advisory Board. As a private, nonprofit institution established by the state of Missouri, WGU Missouri works in partnership with its parent institution, Western Governors University, and under the guidance of the state advisory board. The Advisory Board is comprised of 12 individuals who work or reside in Missouri and provide counsel on the most effective ways the university can meet its core mission of economic development in the state.

Mehan is the president and CEO of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he leads and oversees the operation of the state’s foremost advocacy group for job growth and economic expansion. Mehan, along with the Missouri business community, is currently implementing a 15-year strategic plan called Missouri 2030: An Agenda to Lead. This 15-year strategic plan includes components to improve Missouri’s workforce preparation, economic competitiveness, job-supporting infrastructure and business leadership.

Before joining the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry more than two decades ago, Mehan worked for Washington University in St. Louis as director of development. He has also been involved in several statewide and regional campaigns and previously served as a staff assistant to former U.S. Sen. Christopher “Kit” Bond.

“We are honored to have Dan join the WGU Missouri Advisory Board,” said WGU Missouri Chancellor Dr. Angie Besendorfer. “His extensive relationships and broad experience working to raise Missouri’s economic profile and promoting economic growth in the state will be invaluable as we continue to expand access to affordable, high-quality education to working adults across Missouri.”

Mehan holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He serves on several other boards and commissions in Missouri that share the common of bringing economic growth to the state.
