ST. LOUIS — WGU Missouri has announced it is offering up to $100,000 in scholarships to State of Missouri employees looking to further their education. The “Show Me Your Triumph” Scholarship is being launched to encourage working adults – many of whom have faced multiple challenges and obstacles in their lives that have prevented them from earning a bachelor’s or master’s degree – to make the leap to go back to school and finish their degrees. Applications are being accepted through July 31, 2020 at https://www.wgu.edu/financial-aid-tuition/scholarships/missouri/show-me-your-triumph.html.
Each “Show Me Your Triumph” scholarship is worth up to $5,000 and will be applied at a rate of $1,250 per six-month term, renewable for up to four terms. The scholarships are open to new students interested in earning a bachelor’s or master’s degree in any of WGU’s 60+ degree programs in IT, business, K-12 education or health professions, including nursing. To be eligible for the “Show Me Your Triumph” scholarship, students must provide evidence of employment with the state of Missouri, submit an essay describing an obstacle they have overcome, complete admission and scholarship applications, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and be admitted to a WGU Missouri degree program.
“The ‘Show Me Your Triumph Scholarship’ is a salute to the hard work and dedication by our students and others who have overcome obstacles to achieve their goals,” said Dr. Angie Besendorfer, Chancellor of WGU Missouri. “Many of our students and graduates have overcome disabilities, illnesses and other tragedies and hardships that have made their road to success more challenging, but they are proof that no obstacle should hold someone back from furthering their education. We hope this scholarship will provide State of Missouri employees who are facing challenges in their lives with an even more affordable, accessible and flexible path to a degree so they can advance their careers and achieve their dreams.”
