WGU Missouri Recognized Among St. Louis’ Best Places to Work

The online, nonprofit was named a finalist for the annual St. Louis Business Journal award

ST. LOUIS – WGU Missouri has been named a finalist for the St. Louis Business Journal’s Best Places to Work awards. The online, nonprofit university is among 85 finalists across five categories to be honored this year. The winners from each category will be announced at an awards ceremony on March 7, 2019, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Clayton.

The Best Places to Work awards annually recognize businesses in St. Louis, with 10 employees or more, that have high rankings in categories that include team effectiveness, retention, employee alignment with company goals, manager effectiveness, work engagement, people practices, communication and resources, individual needs, personal engagement, team dynamics and trust in leadership. The finalists were determined through surveys administered by a third-party surveyor and completed by employees of the participating companies. The surveyor used the data received to measure employees’ responses to each category.

WGU Missouri was selected for the medium-sized businesses category, featuring 20 finalists that have between 50-99 employees in the St. Louis region. Other categories include small, large, big and giant. Over 250 nominations were submitted.

“We are thrilled to be recognized as a Best Places to Work finalist this year,” said WGU Missouri Chancellor Dr. Angie Besendorfer. “We take pride in having a positive and impactful working environment for our employees, and being named a finalist really demonstrates our commitment to them as they work to fulfill WGU Missouri’s mission of expanding access to higher education for adult learners around the state.”
