SHERMAN — WGU Texas has partnered with Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center (WNJ) to provide access to high-quality educational opportunities that support the work of the hospital and the educational goals of its employees. The academic partnership with WGU is their first and will assist with WNJ’s ability to increase their BSN population and compliment WGU Texas’ pre-licensure program.
WNJ in Sherman is a 214-bed hospital, serving four counties in North Texas and Southern Oklahoma and employs more than 700. Along with a WNJ tuition assistance of $500 per year, the partnership offers value-added benefits, such as exclusive scholarships and a tuition discount. A WGU pre-licensure cohort is scheduled to begin at the medical center in 2020.
“WGU Texas is pleased to partner with Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center to provide these important benefits to their employees,” said Dr. Steven Johnson, WGU Texas Chancellor. “We look forward to providing new avenues to advance their education with bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.”
Under the terms of the partnership, all WNJ employees are eligible to receive a five percent tuition discount (for up to four academic terms) off WGU Texas’ flat-rate tuition of approximately $6,300 per year for most programs, and are eligible to apply for special scholarships, including the WGU Healthcare Partners Fund Scholarship. More information about the partnership is available on the WGU Texas website texas.wgu.edu/wnj.
