KENT – This afternoon, WGU Washington welcomed Beth Schubert into the university’s Sage Society. The Sage Society honors and celebrates individuals committed to helping others pursue and achieve their goals – and making the world around them better.

Schubert, an Intake Coordinator at Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care in University Place, works with patients accessing hospice care and their families. Schubert also serves as Vice President of the Exceptional Families Network, the Lakewood-based organization dedicated to building inclusive environments for children with special needs across the Puget Sound region. She helped found the Miss Exceptional Pageant, a program welcoming young women with disabilities and helping build self-esteem and communication skills. In 2018, Schubert earned a bachelor’s in nursing from WGU Washington.

Schubert was inducted into WGU Washington’s Sage Society during a brief ceremony this afternoon at Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care in University Place. In addition to WGU Washington and CHI Franciscan staff, others in attendance included two, Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care leaders: Mark Rake Marona (Executive Director) and Bonni Stratton (Manager of Business Development).
