WGU North Carolina Signs Partnership Agreement with Bladen Community College

Graduates will be able to seamlessly transfer to WGU

DUBLIN — WGU North Carolina, an affiliate of national online Western Governors University, has signed a partnership agreement with Bladen Community College. As part of the terms, BCC graduates will receive credit for their completed coursework and will be able to transfer seamlessly to WGU to pursue a bachelor’s degree

Additionally, BCC graduates, staff, and faculty will receive a 5% discount for up to four terms at WGU, and will be able to apply for specially designated WGU Community College Partner Scholarships valued at $2,000.

WGU offers more than 60 undergraduate and graduate degrees in the high-demand fields of business, information technology, K-12 education, and healthcare, including nursing. WGU’s competency-based learning model allows students to accelerate at their own pace. Asynchronous courses allow students to log in and study whenever their schedules permit. Tuition is around $3,250 per six-month term for most undergraduate degree programs, and students can take as many courses per term as they and their mentors are comfortable with.

WGU North Carolina officially launched in October 2017 through a partnership between the State and Western Governors University. More than 4,000 North Carolina residents are currently enrolled at WGU, and nearly 4,500 alumni live in the state.

“We are so excited about this partnership, which gives our students a chance to seamlessly transfer and to have an economical opportunity to finish their degrees,” said Dr. Amanda Lee, President of Bladen Community College.

“We are delighted to partner with Bladen Community College to help their graduates who wish to pursue an affordable four-year degree at an accredited online university,” said Dr. Kimberly Estep, Vice President of the Southeast Region for Western Governors University. “BCC’s motto is ‘Student Centered- Future Focused,’ which absolutely matches WGU’s values.”
